My weekends work on the 9N

Post by dino »

Sun was shining and I've been itching to tackle the swirls on my car. At my disposal i only had Meguiar's #80 and #83 and SFX pad set.

Didn't archive the results i was hoping for from these two and I'm looking to try some Menzerna IP.

Anyway I'll start with how she looked this morning as i drove to Wickes for some painters masking tape.

Next up i gave her a shower then a nice warm soapy rub with a Meg's wash mitt, dried with Meg's MF's.

OH NO SWIRLS!!!

Masked the headlights and grill up, not very neat i know!

First off Meguiar's #80 on a SFX 2 pad

Then the other side got Meguiar's #83 on a SFX 1 pad as Meguiar's #80 wasn't doing it on the tough VW paint

Then i applied 1Z PolishWax thinly by hand.

Followed by Harly Wax again by hand.

Followed by Meguiars #21 by PC on a SFX 3 pad.

After all that

All trim and tyres were dressed with AutoGlym Vinyl and Rubber Care.

Overall happy but could still be better but i need a lot more practice on the PC and a wider variety of products.

All comments welcome!

Updated pics and further work;

Added another coat of Harly Wax as the weather was gorgeous!

Then i decided to check the pressure of my spare and give the boot a clean.

Image

Hoovered and hit with All Purpose Cleaner (APC) 10:1

Image

Spare wheel is brand new - never fitted so was in good shape - just a bit dirty so i got APC onto the job.

Image

Applied Hyper Dressing 4:1 to tyre wall and tool box.

Looks great Dino, although there are better ways to get a bad boy bonnet than blue tape

I love nothing more than for my car to look good but I don't know where you get the motivation from, I'm usually knackered at the weekend.

Get me some shades ( 8) found some) That is some seriously shiny sh!t. Even cleaned the spare wheel. Thats either real love for the Polo or a really addictive chemical in the polish
