Time to part with the old girl..

Post by GroovyCarrot »

The time has finally come to say goodbye to the old polo :(
However, staying with the theme of white 1980's VW's, I have just treated myself to this little beauty:

:D
If anyone's interested in my car, there's a post in the for sale section. Will be sad to see the polo go :(

I do :( But I was lured by the temptation of a 1.8i coupe... going to be hard to part with it though.

gonna be sad to see that go, what happened to your GT conversion plans?

that car was the one that got me thinking my car could look cool with a little work

p.s aren't you away at uni still? in which case why not wait till your done and then decide what to do as it won't make much difference anyway???

Well, GT conversion was still on the cards, but I realised quite how much I liked the scirocco and that insurance had finally come down to a half-managable level.. would have liked to do it though, it seems such a shame to let it go still with a 1043cc engine in it, it deserves more :( Also, short of doing the GT conversion I'd pretty much done everything I really wanted to to the polo, and it was just getting to be the same old maintenance routines rather than really trying out new things. Now at least I'll have a blank canvas to explore..
My original plan was to keep the polo while I was at uni and then move on to bigger things... but I got impatient  I wasn't originally going to bring a car to uni, but I think I'll be keeping the scirocco here now. Anyway, bit late to wait now, I've kinda committed myself to buying it now ;)
And then there were none!
I know.. I feel a bit like I'm letting the side down, but it had to happen one day. The car is up for grabs if anyone wants to join the merry band of mk2 owners, I just hope someone from here takes it, would be a real shame to see it going to a non-enthusiast as it's a very neat little car.

Anyway, I'm sorry to be leaving polo's behind, but it had to happen one day. Maybe when I'm rich enough I'll get a polo back as a runaround or a project, it would be nice. Anyway, I'll hang about on the forums, hope to come to the odd meet even if I am polo-less, there's a very nice community going on here and I wouldn't want to leave that behind ;)

Yep it is :) I'd suggest an impromptu meetup when I go to collect it, but it's going to be pretty late by the time I get to Sandwich and then I've got to get it home again before I'm absolutely dead on my feet. Going to be a hectic day.. start work at 7, finish at 1, straight to the station, arrive around 5, drive home for about 8:00 and then straight back to Reading the next day  Barely going to have time to enjoy the ride..

The address is Eastry, so just outside Sandwich.
