Ok, another question to ask the many knowledgeable people here about my gti:
i've noticed recently that when the engine is warmed, if i rev the engine when not in gear above 2000ish, and release the accelerator, the revs seem to drop, then pause for a second at 1200ish, then return to the normal 900ish? When the revs reach 1200ish they almost seem to go up a bit, then down to normal. it's quite strange?
I've been meaning to take my car to VW for them to have a look at a few probs, but i just don't get the chance in the week!
I'm sure someone on here knows what this is or could be causing it, so please help if you know!
thanks for reading this polo people

p.s moynas, sorry to hear about your meeting with the tree and kerb, hope it's not costing you an arm and a leg (no pun intended)
pausing revs?

Hello mate, the GTi will be back soon enough!
I had this same prob the other day, when i cleaned my throttle body out, it made the car over air for an hour or so! also made my cat warning light come on but got this reset!
You must remember that the GTi engine was set up to rev rather high to get the most power from it! The time to worry is when the revs decide to go below 900ish (as you put it)
Also its been very cold and it takes alot more effort for the engine to get warm!
If your worried i can get a friend from colchester vw to take a look?

thanks for replying moynas, think i will take you up on the offer of having your friend take a look at my car sometime.
When it comes to cleaning the throttle body, is it just a question of spraying some carb cleaner on the butterfly thingamysnizzle, or is there a more thorough way to clean it?
Also, i was gonna reset the ecu to see if that helped, someone replied to me mentioning taking out relay 100 as an alternative to the battery disconnection, but i couldn't find relay 100!

Hope you get your car back soon,
