Problems with my polo cutting out

Hello - I have a mk2 polo wiht a 1043 engine and a pierburg 1b3 carb. lately when running my car from cold it is fine, however, once the car has warmed up a bit the engine will stall when the clutch pedal is depressed this also happens at junctions which is quite annoying. when the car is fully warm this still happens.

I have tryed a few quick fixes from the forum such as disconnect the vacuumn hose from the air intake and connect the heat pipe from the manifold shroud to stop carb icing but this makes no difference.

Has anyone had the same problem ? any ideas? My car isn't worth a lot so i don't want to go down the weber 32tl route as it is not worth it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the jets in the carb? They may be clogged up with a little bit of crud that found its way past the fuel filter.

I have a weber 32tl sat in the garage that i was hoping to fit, but was told by a independant vw guy that they are apin to set up and dont always cure the problems as they are very tempramental, hence why ive put it off for a while....

Other than that, all i can suggest is to systematically go through the car, fuel, mixture, vacuum pressures and all the electrics, ignition etc. you may find somethig lurking in a dark corner

another problem that i have just remebered of is....

the little rubber bit between the Inlet Manifold, and the carb.... it crack/errodeds/breaks wot ever u call it, and it leaves a tiny gap between the carb and inlet.... try having a peek at that?

if not, like polock said... check the jets, and put a bit of carb cleaner in her..

iv had some real good stuff from a garage.... usually any garage, in a little redbottle, about 4-5 quid... go by the instructions.... will clear any s**t in ur fuel lines, and is MAINLY a carb cleaner!!

This rubber bit sounds like something worth investigating for me aswell.

If its perished, can instant gaskett in a tube be used to replace it or would i be better buying a new rubber one?

Is that the part i need?
