Door Strips.....help

Right I've seen a few posts on here about removing the door strips but I want to know the best way to do it. Hairdryer and a Credit card right? and that wont leave any glue or s**t on the side of the doors...?

Thats correct.

Or use fishing line or dental floss if possible.

However...you will be left with some glue.... So in order to remove this use some petrol (wash straight after use) or some tar remover (doubt you'll have any to be honest).

Prepare yourself for achin finger tips

When I removed mine I used a hair dryer and a short length of fishing wire.

I heated the side strips and used the fishing wire in a sawing motion between the strip and the door.

There will always be sticky residue left on the door. I used petrol on a cloth to remove it.

wash, tcut, wax.

Exactly how I did it, and it's the best way.

Although mine came off without the hairdryer in the end, with no damage to the paintwork.

Only difference I used petrol, then WD40..as I ran out of petrol. Oh I used kitchen roll and not a cloth, but same thing!

whne i took the 1.4L badge off my bootlid i used a old credit card and a hot air gun ( the ones you use for stripping paint.) on a high fan and low heat the badge jus dropped off just be carfull useing this method as you heat her up to much and your paint will buble.

Did mine with a kettle of boiling water, did all my badges this way, will be doing the strips down the side next. No need for petrol/WD40 to wipe off gunk as hot water had left it sticky, just needed to rub it off with my finger.

when debadging my old 106 i used a hair dryer and a wallpaper scraper covered in masking tape. i know this isn't debadging but surely the same method would be used. to take of the adhesive left behind i used paint thinner and T-Cut

i spent nearly 2 days doing my old 106, the bump strips were extremely thick and went from front to back bumper., and my dad didn't tell me about his hot air gun till the 2nd day

after that i aint going to bother doing the same to the polo

Hey, i took off the strips and was left with some type of hooks? AND some of the paintwork came off. I used boiling water and a credit card. I was still left with all glue on the side.

Ive used hot water, turps, black thinner (as my polo is black) but to no affect. I dunno wat to use now. Any ideas?

when i di mine bout a month ago, i used a heat gun, then sawin motion with fishing line did the first couple of inches of the side strips, then when it was enough to get my hand underneath, i pulled the rubber away from the door slowly, but at the sametime the heat gun was pointing between thedoor and the strips, and this way all the glue and rubber stuff stayed on the strips, meaning i only had sticky stuff on the area where i used the fishing line (bout 2 inches per door) that way there was no damage to paint! then the glue came off using the heat gun and the "P" of the back POLO logo which was the first thing i took off! to finish off, i used a little bit of petrol to make sure everything was 100% gone. all in all the glue removal took longer than acctually taking the strips off. bout 2 hours start to end!
