Hi New MK4 Polo owner wanting to fit 17's advice wanted????

i have 17s on mine lowered 50mm,,,i had to have falken ZE512 205/40/17 tyres as the tyrewalls are really sloped and reduce scrubbing,,,mine rubbed on the mud flaps which i planned on removing anyway and on full lock a little on the inner arches which i should sort but its very minor,,,just got new falkens yesterday as they were just starting to show signs of wear,,,i think lowered the right amount and in the right style 17s can look great on a polo,,,another problem could be the 7.5'' width as mine are only 7j which helps a little.good luck anyway mate.

Cheers guys. Think It'll be 15's or 15's from what I've read. Worried 15's will look small though? My first though before 17's was to go for 15inch Ronal Turbo's and drop her by say 60mm. If its 16's I might go for a technomagnesio detroit f1's. If not it'll be a black set of team dynamics pro race 1's or oz super leggerras. Any pics of the above on a polo would be great to help me choose from my short list.

if you do 17's listen to rich16v as you won't want a 7.5. My 15's were a 7 and a 7.5 on the same offset would have rubbed.

also, surely the size of the wheel doesn't matter so long as you can get a profile to make the overall diameter the same? admittedly that may be impossible on a 17 though as a 15 needs a 45 profile on a 195 tyre!

anyhow, 17's can be done if you get a 7 inch rim. 16's look nice and 15's do NOT look too small. have a look at some member's rides you'll see that the majority of 15's really suit the car.

don't be trapped into thinking you must have 17's because the mondeo can take them. the polo is a small euro style where smaller wheels set the car off well......

Cheers again. Looks like I may be dipping for the Ronal R10 turbo's me thinks now and 60mm drop.

Right I've seen some ronals on eBay and they come in 2 offsets. Seller says go for ET28. I though polo would be better on ET37's. What do you guys rekon? Also they come with 50 profile tyres and I thought 15's require a 45 profile. He wants Â£449 with 50's or Â£569 with 45's. Seems a big difference! Here his recommendation anyway. Any thoughts would be appreciated if any of you guys have ronals.

hi sam, you can drive ET28 and ET37 on your polo 6N. I would drive the ET28. It looks better. Delivery time is arround 8 days. Payp by paypal and i sent the wheels on monday. Tyre size is 195/50R15 its an good cheap tyre. With an 195/45R15 the wheels cost 569 GBP + shipping. The bolts and center rings are included and the wheels are ready to fit.

i think when he says ''they look better'' on the lower profile he means theyll stick out more to give more of a euro kinda look (i think,, but im not too up on offsets ) bloody hell mate 17s to ronals is quite a change of heart,,,either look smart though,,,i personally prefer 17s though but it aint my motor.

Yeah is quite a turn around from 17's but my original Idea was Ronals. I was just concerned that 15's would look small. Think now from what I've heard 15's and a 60mm drop will look sweet. If it wasn't my day to day car I'd say sod it and slap on 17x7's. I do a lot of back road twisty bumpy so I think it'll handle well on 15's.

my boyf had a polo a few year ago, had 17" wheels and dropped about 70mm, looked totally mint. for the wheels to fit he rolled the back arches and modified the rear suspension cups. he used wheels from a fiat as they have a skinnier offset, and he never had any probelms with those wheels. hope that helps
As for this comment, either he had extensive arch work, or you aint got a f*****g clue.

excuse me? he had those wheels on the car most the time he owned which was about a year, when he sold the car on the lad kept those wheels on, and neither had any problems with the wheels. obviously no one could get into the back of the car, but that was just a good excuse not to give anyone else a lift anywhere. all the work he did to his arches i already quoted in my previous post so why are you saying i dont have a clue? the tyres he had on at the time were falkens, so after reading rich16v's post i'm guessing thats why he had falkens on

i don't have any pics, he sold the car nearly 2 years ago and had had a load of cars since then. he might have some pics somehwere tho. was a lovely car, thats why i bought one!

got some 17x7.5s on my polo atm, only its sitting 50mm closer to the floor than standard, it rubs on full lock when reversing out the drive, and its shredding the tyres, im going to stick my 16's back on.

if ur wanting bigger rims i wouldnt go any bigger than 16"s, from what ive seen on ere on 16"s u can drop it about 70mm to 75mm
