Deep Scratches on Drivers Rear Pannel (3dr)

Post by jpolo »

Unfortuantly, a couple of weeks ago, some un-savoury people decided, that they would like to run their keys along rear side pannel on drivers side of my lovely pristine silver paintwork! This car is cherished, and much loved, and I was beside myself after this! Due to my Polo 9N 1.2s 65hp being my first car I cant afford at the moment to have it resprayed, can anyone recomend what to treat it with there are two scratches one below the other approx 30 cm long!

I would appreciate your help on this matter, thankyou!

Can you catch your nail in the scratch - if so, it's too deep to be polished out.

Best thing i could think of with out going for a respray is to fill the scratch with paint (available from VW) applied to the scratch with a cocktail stick just to fill it.

One dry you would need to either rub or sand it back to make it flat (wouldn't recommend this unless you are confident doing so)

Where abouts are you based - I know a few people around the country with a Porter Cable (PC) polisher who should be happy to help either sand or polish with a PC the filled scratch back to one level.

Hope this make senses?
