I had my car done by a mechanic, but you should have some spring compressors handy, to get the strut out.

Also, it's recommended that you but some new nuts and bolts for the top struts, which are pretty cheap from your local VW dealer.

Apart from that, just your spanners, wrenches and drivers, I guess.

Looking forward to seeing it slammed 8)

If you do the front - you will need to get the camber done, or at the very least mark it before you take it apart with a few scores or tip x

What kind of springs - i had 30mm Gmax on orignal shokies, they were quite soft and bouncy - compared to my 30mm ebiach ones i have fitted the now

I dont know how well 50mm will handle - but i dont think shockies can get damaged as the bump stops are meant to protect them - not entirley sure so maybe some one else could help you out

50mm is the really the lowest you can go without uprating dampers, even at -50mm with standard vw dampers you might suffer long term problems.

As for lowering, coil-overs are your best bet, took my dad and i a whole day fitting them but she now sits 75mm lower.
only special tool i remember using was to tension the springs before putting them on (the spring compressor thingie thats rather dangerous if not used properley!)

Yeah that's right mate it's only the front that can be adjusted.

Mine looked like a touring car when it was 1st lowered. 8)
