It will start the car, as it has the immobilser transponder chip inside - just like its big brother normal key :)

While we're on the subject of keys, this has probably been asked before but I'll ask again.

Are we able to have Flip key like the newer Audi's and some of the Golf's?

Is it something that we can get from VW?

MM - yes it is possible in theory.. as they both use the 433.92mhz freq. to transmit to the car, so you would need the flip key programmed to car also once its been cut

Thats the guide I actualy saw it was in pdf format I cant find it now. It involves breaking a flip key and replacing the bits from your key to it.

Yep that guide shows you how to DIY one, but if you want a brand new non-butchered one, then can order key from VW I recon.

(DIY involves breaking up your normal key, removing transponder chip, breaking open the flip key, putting transponder chip in, removing blade from normal key and drilling a hole in it for the roll pin in the flip key etc..)

Not sure m8, £100?

DIY would be cheaper I guess. or maybe find an uncut flip key on ebay cheaper? then have it cut and coded?

Can give you part to ask dealer?

i was sure the whole point of having to break they key and do it that was was because the flip keys operated on a different frequency, so you needed to butcher one and put your gubbins in there so it worked?
