the Concept R is *not* dead in the water as we've been led to believe for the last year. So, this looks like VW will be bring three "sporting" models to market in the next few years... The Corrado, the three wheeled thing (which has been seen in testing!) and finally the roadster derived from the Concept R.

Fantastic! I've been yearning for something like this for years (literally) - hence the Smart Roadster as the stop-gap. Time to start saving the pennies in earnest...

Not so keen on the "pricey" aspect, though...

yeah i was speaking to someone up at the VW garage the other day, apparently its all based on market influence and demand at the time, if there is a genuine interest or market for a type of car like this then they will bring it out, even if they may end up losing money (veyron).

Deek, is the GX-3 (three-wheeled wotsit) going to be available in the UK? I was led to believe that is was destined for the US

again, thats what i got told as well, most of these new coupes are destined to be for an american market only... suprising really!!

Just thought I'd update this with two bits of news.

First, the GX-3 has been cancelled due to VW America's fear of lawsuits from the relatives of dead/injured drivers. Shame.

Also the Smart Roadster has been sold and I was very glad to see the back of it. They are not good cars at all. One to avoid. What's worse is I currently have *no* car

and am tooling around in a hired Focus until I can find something worthy as a replacement.
