yep u have a mk4 (6n)

mk4 = 6n
mk5 = 6n2
mk6 = 9n
mk7 = 9n3

these arr the main ones, unfortunately i don't know the codes for mk1, mk2, or mk3 but i'm sure someone on here can fill in these gaps!!

if ur wandering where the 9n2 went, that was the mk6 polo saloon i think that the UK never got!!

hope this helps

6N = mk4 (1996-1999)

6N2 = mk5 (1999-2002)

9N = mk6 (2002-2005)

9N2 = mk7 (2005 on)

i know, tell me about it! when i was modding my mk5, i used to ring up places like demon tweeks and they used to ask which model polo i had and i'd go

"its a mk5"
"which one is that?"
"u know, the 6n2??"

then that was usually followed by silence.......followed by

"wot year was it made?"

:? :?

i think thats right S T V were all stages of 1998/1999 so there all gonna be mk4s. unless it was made after october 1999 then its a mk 5 6n2

simple answer look at your VIN plate and i think it should be summat like WVWZZZ00006n90086

the bit in bold is the mark in the vw code so as said befor 6n is the mk4 and 6n2 is the mk4 facelift
