Caramel mix in rocker cover!

Post by akz786 »

Ok went to top up oil, took off oil cap, and saw some caramel goo! looks like soft cream, but just a heap under the cap collected together, none in the water expansion tank thou, the coolant is clean. So is this just a collection or a sign to say head gasket needs replacing! the car has 108k on the clock.

TIA

all the stuff you can see is where the oil hit the atomhisre it mainly happens whn your car doesn't get long runs just to and from work kind of thing nothing to worry about, or if your going for a service make sure they put and engine flush thru yours and give it a long run once in a while.

As long as theres no oil in the coolant dont worry too much. My Polos just hit 60k and had it since about 20k. What causes it is moisture getting into the oil, this can happen through condensation when the engine isnt running for long enough to get hot to expel this moisture. A good engine flush, decent new oil and a good long drive should sort it as mentioned.
