wow, u were feeling like you wanted to chuck the car away, i can imagine you now! sorry mate i feel for you, anyways im getting a cherry bomb exhaust for £40 i rekon that a stock one would cost around the same, why not get a cherry bomb from ebay? theres also a guy that sells normal systems, but not original from a aftermarket company for like £20....that could help you
I would recommend phoning a VW garage or specialist, there will almost certainly be one in your region, phone them, and tell them u need a replacement for a MK2 Exhaust..
I suspect that an MK2 exhaust will be quite easy to find..
Your best bet is to phone up your local breakers yards and ask if they have any MK2's, pay them a visit, give them £5-£10 and walk in and rip what u want from the car..
I would try and stay away from ebay, and non-original parts if you can..
The mid section is £25 from GSF. Not too hard to fit yourself, but leave yourself some time as the joints can be pretty solidly fixed together.
On the plus side, that could well explain why the car was bogging down when you pull away
Bit hard to say an exact price - I'm looking at the centre silencer there right?
List is about £24 for the part, depending on exactly which system it has fitted, but you might as well nip down to your local fast fit type place (Please, not Kwik Sh*t, they'll charge you a fortune, screw the job up and tell you you need a load of other stuff that you don't need). That way you'll probably spend about £10 more and they'll do it in 10 minutes flat on the ramps, which is always preferable to an hour of alligator wrestling on the driveway.
Pattern exhausts are just fine. Don't bother with second hand, it'll be ready rusted and you'll have to wrestle the bugger off too.
Wildchild - Have you ever had an exhaust fitted or done one?
