I've been using Optimax in it from the start, only once or twice filled it with anything else. I'll have to see what they say at the garage, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong. :?

Ah well, not to worry. I get to test drive a Honda Civic Type-R over the weekend! :P They are a bit late though seeing as I asked for it in April and now have the Polo. But still...

Drove through some heavy traffic, felt the gearshift coming loose again, left it in 2nd for the rest of the journey (better than 'losing' the gear altogether), cussed the traffic for getting lighter and leaving me daring not to go above 35 in a 40 zone (with a string of cars in both lanes of the dual carriageway following cautiously behind at the same speed thinking something was going on!), burnt up more than a gallon for the 15 mile jaunt, probably knackered the clutch starting off on a certain hill (needed full throttle and 3-4k revs) and ended up having to hand-tighten the culprit bolt on a petrol station forecourt because the wrench has gone mysteriously missing from the toolbag and the garage didn't have any to lend. Got some bolt-locking fluid on the way back and now have to find an hour to spend on cleaning all the cack off of the bolt and the joint so that it can be used.
Oh, and had to fill it up again (another £30 gone!) and lost the key in the house so had to get at the glovebox by climbing in thru the unlocked boot (inc disconnecting the parcel shelf speakers).

Not a good day all told...!!

Later i shall also top up the oil because running constantly at 35 in second probably burned up a load..

I swapped my amps round and fiddled with my new EQ a lot...

Oh, and got worried at the burning clutch smell that came wafting through the air vents

Today was good. Well almost, since it didn't go as planned completely. The car went in for its service (90K) and it had no problems, which was nice. I also asked them to fit the Zimmermann discs and Pagid pads, after I'd failed to get the discs off myself. Gotta invest in an impact wrench some day...

Also asked them to fit the Goodridge hoses, which they did, although one of them prooved to be faulty (leaked!). So I have 3 braided hoses, and one old OE hose. Dammit. Goodridge is shipping a replacement out at no cost, so that's nice enough. It does mean that the car has to go back in to fit the final hose. I contemplated doing these myself, but my 'So Wird Es Gemacht' manual told me to get the brakes bled mechanically (since it has ABS?). Sigh.

Brakes are excellent btw! Taking it easy for now, but pedal feel has improved and decelleration has also improved... Wonder what it's like when they're bedded in. And when I can really hit them....

(I had pics, but I can't find them anymore. Duh.)

My dealer's mechanics are pretty cool btw, they (3 of 'em) drive Mk3's, including 2 G40's... Had a chat about the KW's and Zimmermann's. I think it's in good hands there.

:D

I (finally) got mine back yesterday. Haven't had much time to drive it just yet, but it is looking *fantastic* if I say so myself.

Full valet by the paintshop - all swirl marks, chips, scratches are a thing of the past (yay!!) So very shiny, I've noticed a couple of people giving it a good look. 8) Just can't afford to do that every year! In fact, I;d say it's looking better now that when I first got it!! Waiting for the paint to cure a bit longer before zymoling for winter.

New drivers seat base, plinth and cover; new seat belt (with the b-pillar trim panels only sort of fitting now :? ); new dash central console; instrument binnacle still rattles and steering wheel still not on the column straight. Oh well, you win some, you loose some...

Oh yes, and a new dent in the bootlid :(

Deek.

I just drove it to work today.. No changes untill summer starts knocking on my door again  I spent alot of time on ebay today looking for a great deal on 17" wheels to put on my car during winter... but found nothing suitable...
I was even thinking of buying mercedes wheels for winter. But the bidding is up to over 200euro's now. And still 3 days to go...

I washed mine.

Also had Kev @ JBS do a bit of re-wiring in the engine.

Re-wiring? There's more ways than one?
