Everyone might want to have a read of this

Post by titch »

"www.b4usearch.com" is a website where if you click on people and type in a name and location it brings up the house address and phone number of the person - i imagine most people on this forum will be on this site and probably won't want their address and number available so easy over the internet so if you email [email protected]. saying you want your details removed, it should be done within 21 days - if not i believe you will be able to complain

that's actually kinda scary  surely that's breach of privacy or something, it shouldn't be anything to do with you informing them to take it off, shouldn't it be illiegal to publish that in the 1st place????

i clicked remove and it says they need my home tel no., mobile no. and email address to remove it??? that sounds dodgy to me too.

Well it takes information from sources already avaliable to the public such as the electoral register.

is it that easy to get you name and address from the electoral register then? looking at the privacy section of that site it basically says that any info you give them they'll be giving it to companies to sell their offers...so i wouldn't advise putting your tel no's in to have your name removed

This stuff is all in the public domain already. 192.com has had it all for years.

Lets be honest though, are we all being stalked by murdering maniacs? Are we on the run from the law? If not then i'd suggest you had very little to worry about. I know I don't lose sleep over the fact that someone can find my house via the internet.

I mean, i've found it useful that I can find out my mates address', like if I want to mail them a postcard or an incriminatingly disgusting porn rag from somewhere I can just look it up online!

That's how we get all these nuisance calls asking us to buy new phones etc.

They buy your details from other companies.
