Nearly as good as BMW's April Fool today in the Guardian......... A Full page ad for their new style paint that will stop slow driving BMW owners getting there picture taken by the new Slow Speed Cameras that are being installed around the country

The BMW Boffin who created the stuff is called Hans Uphoo-Gotit.

It has a website too.................. http://www.slowcameras.com

Cheers

I knew as soon as I started to reading, then it was confirmed when I saw

"They need to realise this poses a real threat..."

I'm pretty certain I'd heard of this news article a few weeks back, I don't think its an April Fool!

In France I think it is, you can't tune a car's engine beyond its stock components (the odd air filter and exhaust is borderline OK) but you are allowed to go nuts on the bodywork and do what you like

This has been in the works for a while - it's not it's first newspaper appearance by a long chalk. Unfortunately the legislation is a long way into the legal system now... Does at least appear to have been toned down from the old proposal (which basically banned any trade in second hand parts e.g. autojumbles or even private sales - all you mk1 blingers would have been automatically criminialised)

You remember that french chap who was desperately trying to sell his hard-modded mk4 here so that he didn't either have to undo years of hard work, or see it crushed? Another victim of bonkers laws being brought in. (Mind you the french are pretty bad for that all round anyway - witness the riots)

I'm liking this picture now, though. Fancy that i'll borrow my cousins laminator and sacrifice a few A4 sheets of paper & plastic (and some wire ties) in order to put them up on lamposts in areas where i'm continually held up by dorks who don't realise the entire point of owning a motor vehicle is to go faster than you can walk. Maybe with a plate underneath saying something along the lines of "Slow Camera Zone - minimum speed limit 30mph" etc

suppose their argument, if i can play devils advocate, is that youd be singing a different tune if a dodgy unapproved steering wheel sliced your head in two in an accident situation

though if you follow that tack too far down we'll end up all limited to 20 on the m'ways, 12 in the country, and 4mph round town with a big red flag
