help 4 branch manifold

Post by brianpologti »

help I am fitting a 4 branch manifold to my polo gti and getting rid of my cat, hopefully, I just need advice on what the two sensors do because I only got one hole in the new downpipe /manifold , in the old one there one in the downpipe just after the manifold and downpipe join, and one after the cat, I am guessing I might not need the one after the cat, I no my car wont pass a mot without the cat,
just need more power
please help

I think you would only need the oxygen sensor before the cat. If you needed the sensor after the cat the manufacturer would of made a hole for it. ???????

surely both need fitting and connecting else you'll have your emissions light on your dash constantly?

i've had by 4-2-1 manifold fitted and kept the cat so it was only a case of extending the one loom for the lambda probe on the downpipe...

You need both sensors or your dash will light up like a xmas tree!

Just had a de-cat pipe fitted and my it makes a difference IMO! Great sound to it as well!!

There were some for sale on the club lupo forum for £175, PM Tigz and see if he's got any left! Also Jezmk4 had one up for grabs, try him too.

Where did they get these from. Seen the pictures on the lupo site. Looks like a top piece of kit for that price. :D

in the end I kept the cat, I left it so its easy to remove, just got to make up a pipe to suit with a treaded hole for the extra sensor,

I had finished the buy, but a couple more people are wanting one.
They are Race line manifolds, they are a design copy of the supersprint Polo 6n 16v one.
Some one informed me they retailed at £600 but I can not confirm that.

Let me know if you want one.

I removed my cat when i got a powerflow exhaust.
They told me that they'd made a threaded hole in the decat pipe to put 2nd sensor into.
But they hadn't :( :(
So i called them and asked why, they said that it'd be ok i only need the first sensor (the lambda sensor) and the 2nd one (oxygen sensor or something) i can live without until mot time and the cat goes back in. :D :D

I've had no probs at all with dash lights coming on.

Heres the decat pipe:

One of our members on Club Lupo with a GTI, removed his decat pipe, while having the car mapped, to test it out on the rollers.
He found he had lost power, as the lamber probe wasn't connected causing the check light to be on.

Wierd yours isnt, although if they told you they had fit it, demand they put it right.

Thats out of order to lie about it.
Have you spoke to the manager?

Does this manifold make a big differance to sound and performance.Would it fit the polo gti 16v 2000 w reg. How much is it for the downpipe and de cat section.

Here's the pick of the old downpipe n cat and modified downpipe n de cat.

Here's the pick of the old manifold to the modified one. Looks great.
