Help Needed!! My Dim Lights Aint Working!!

hey looking for some help my polo's Dim lights aint working! and my main lights are only working when the ignition is turned on! anyone any ideas on what could be causing this?? i need to get it sorted out asap as its due its MOT in a few days.

main lights only work when the ignition is on anyway, well mine do.
whats wrong with the dim? do they work when the ignition is on?
