As today has gone on my remote central locking seems to playing up . The light on the keys does sometimes flash to show its working but doesn't seem to operate the locking system within the car. I changed the battery about 1 and a half months ago!!!
At first it didn't do it much but now seems to do it more!!
I had a problem with my central locking a while back, same thing happened. Took it into vw for a check over and turns out it was the nsf door latch apparently its earthed there or something. Anyway they wanted £78 or something + labour so i didnt bother in the end. It now seems to have got alot better since and works perfect 99% of the time...
I have had a similar problem. The alarm/immobiliser got un-syncronised with the key. This can happen if you press the unlock button whilst out of range from the recieving unit. I don't recall the re-sync procedure but I do know its in your manual, it involes unlocking the door with your key itself and/or holding the lock button for a few secs. Let me know if you are unable to find it in your handbook and I will fish it out.
If thats not the case I'm not sure, Also if your door or boot is shut but only on the safety latch (ie not properly shut) the central locking wont lock the car untill you shut it properly.
I'm still having problems with my central locking and it's beginning to get on my nerves!!!
The problem is that the key doesn't operate the central locking even though the key flashes. I can be pressing the button on my key and see that the key flashes but no action on the locking mechanism.
Before i take it to a dealer or garage can someone come up with any ideas???
i had a similar thing one day, all i did was unlock the car with the key in the drivers door and then locked it again, the central locking worked after that and it is stilll working ok now.
I must have done something right!! lol
The range on the key is s**t though, but the old key to the head trick seems to work ok
