Running Temp

Post by PGWLE »

My Coupe often only gets up to 75 after at least 15 minutes of driving at around 60mph.

I've only ever seen in hotter when the police had a road block and I sat in traffic for 1 hour, we hit 90c.

Surely running at 75 is bad for the engine!?

Nope, that's about right for running around at 60mph. Think about all that cold air rushing in the front, engine ain't working too hard either.

Sitting in traffic in a city will definately see a rise of temperature right up to 90 degrees. Fan should be working nicely around here.

I was a bit concerned about the cut-in time of my fan. I did a coolant change using two bottles worth of G12+, flushed the system and bled it at the heater matrix, yet the fan now only seems to cut in at around 95-97. Does seem a tad high, but once it does get going it can make a good job of knocking 10 degress off the temp with few problems.

Karl.
