the steels were originally intended to be used when i sent my alloys to be refurbed in the winter, however i really like the look of them so i have a few ideas so they may be staying :wink:

well i was thinking because they have the silver centres and rim inserts they could stay that color, may be polish them if possible, and then either color codin the centres or spray them/paint them black??

my mate has the facilities and equipment to spray them so it may be a bit of trial and error, see what works best. if all else fails ill just polish them up, £50 for a set of steels with 4 brand new tyres isnt bad at all me thinks!

Nice ride!!:)

Was it hard to fit aero wipers? Or is it a case of just unbolt the old ones and fit new ones? What car are they originally for?

I was looking at fitting a rear aero wiper too although its for a mk5 polo, would this be a problem for a MK4 you reckon? Looks like a straight forward jobby but might be wrong?

@ wingy16v, the aero wipers on mine are from a lupo gti, it was an easy job to swap them over, just unbolt the originals and replace with the new ones, then i spent about 10mins positioning them to get the correct swoop etc etc. I would imagine it would be the same for a mk5, although im not sure, perhaps ask in the mk5 section?

@doug, the steels are originally from a 'rocco, i paid £55 for them and they have brand new tyres, so thats a bit of a bargain i think, they just need tidying up really.

Im not sure on the ride height, at a guess id say its dropped about 70-75mm, theres still plenty of thread left on the coilies although any lower just isnt practical!

I know the steelies arent to everyones taste, but they are really growing on me now and i think they'll look cool when there finished and on the car!

There is like a hub-cap type ring that goes around the outside like on the Mk3 Golf (or thats what they look like).

If i am right then they probably are just not pushed in enough on one of the sides (i knows it a circle but you get the point)

the last pic is a combination of my dodgy camera skills and the fact that the rim insert isnt put on the wheel properly - its mainly to do with my poor camera skills though;
