service
what exactly is involved in a service, i have always thought that its
fuel filter
pollen filter (if your car has one)
air filter
spark plugs and/or leads
oil
all fluids
and a check up...
if thats all why cant we service our cars outselves?

if you wanted to do it on your car then i'm sure we can talk you through any probs
although as steveo said it's all really simple...only thing there which is just slightly more complicated is doing the oil and i'd be tempted to take it to quickfit or something for the oil personally anyway as it's a pain of a job without a hydraulic lift....plus you're gonna spend the same amount buying oil as a garage would charge to put in top quality oil and do the labour (just gotta ignore all the stuff that they say NEEDS doing on your car lol)

Well, hope you get on ok with it
The only reasons that VW say it has to be serviced by them is to ensure the work is carried out properly if the car is under warrenty, and to make a nice steady source of income for themselves! It's a doddle to do otherwise, just check everything that might be wrong and repair as necessary

Aww
Well, don't we all just think the world of each other today
Seriously though, tis a nice place this, everyone's very helpful and it does help to have a few people who have been there and done it hanging around.. I could name countless people here who've helped me out.. but I fear it may all get a bit emotional
Suffice to say, there are a number of people here who seem to have endless knowledge of all things polo, and they're damn useful people.. I'm just hoping now that the scirocco scene is anything like as good.
