Factory fit head MP3 radio unit LCD fault.

Hi, the LCD display on the standard fit MP3 unit fitted to my Polo Dune 1.4tdi, has developed a fault AGAIN! After a while, on a long run, the LCD display starts to fade, so much so, that after 2 hours, there is nothing to see! (So you can't decide on which button to press, unless you memorise the functions). This is the second unit I've had which has done this in under the year. The car was bought brand new.
A number of questions, has anyone else experienced this and was it rectified by the dealer?
Does anyone know if VW are aware of this problem, (has it been a bad batch of radio/cd units).
Has there been any recalls on the stereo units.
I know it could probably be rectified by fitting an aftermarket system, but that is not the point. If there is a design fault with air flow around the unit and it is overheating, causing the display to fail, then VW should do something about it. I don't see why I should pay for it.
Can anyone out there offer me some independent advice?
