POLO 9N Split rims - tyre size + spacers

Post by flyfs6 »

Does anyone know what the above are called - I'm sure they're splits.

I just wanted to know the tyre size. They're definately 16"+, and the 9N POLO GT TDI's also came with these.

I think you mean the Montreal alloys, tyre size should be 205/45/16.

Thanks.

I think they're the same as yours/ or the silver POLO TDI SPORT on ebayuk now.

Do you know if the 9n came with lowered suspension from factory in combi with those alloys???

I'm also looking to lower in slightly on Eibach springs and use spacers...any recommendations anyone?

Mine are a different style to the one on ebay, that has the optional montreal ones which are also split rims made by BBS.

They were on the polos with sports suspension which is slightly lower than standard. I might get eibach springs when funds allow! 8)

Cheers GaryUK.

I think the car has sports suspension because it was ordered from the factory with the wheels in question.

Nevertheless will check with VW. In essense I might not gain the 40mm drop I would, compared to a car w/o the sports suspension.

I've been quoted £180 for Eibachs fitted.

£180.00 fitted sounds a very good price!

If you look at this thread at the bottom it shows how low a 40/45mm drop is on sports suspension. Looks great! 8)

I bought FK 10mm spacers all around today - but they wont go on without :-( longer nuts. Hence I'll probably either go for 15mm and get the longer nuts anyway.

Also turns out the car is making a drone type noise from rear at low speeds. So dependant on what it is (i.e. knackered rear suspension) ... looks like I might end up with a set of coilovers.

Polo's in at VW for its first major service to date. I ditched the FK's i bought for the given reasons.

As soon as the car comes back I'll decide where to go from there...as posted in the bodywork section, I have bought a votex kit to fit the car as well.
