Post by Essex6N »

I’ve got standard rear lights on my 1.4 8v, I want to change them because they don’t look good as I’ve got clear lights all around the car. I know I don’t want Lexus lights! Have u guys got any ideas? I wouldn’t mine experimenting with them, any of you sprayed your rear lights in a red tint I’ve seen people do it on golfs but not sure how its done.

Tinting the rear lights is easy to do, simply clean the lenses to make sure theres no dirt etc on them, get some tint spray and apply it lightly in several coats. I did it on mine and it looked good in the day, but of a night when the lights were on you could see where the paint had run and it didnt look as good. I know some bodyshops will do them and mask them, spray them etc etc, but I have no idea how much it would cost.

Personally, I wouldn't bother tinting them yourself, either get a bodyshop to do it or buy some others.

Yeah I’ve seen some mk4s with mk5 lights they really make the car look a bit more modern .I wouldn’t mind the standard all red ones. What’s the best place to get them? Are they expensive?

Have a go tinting them yourself and if you mess them up then go buying some.

you could pick up mk5 rears for about £20-£40. Some people try their luck with them on ebay selling at £80+ so dont fall for that trick... :)

Come to think of it... try vag parts on the forum...see what they can do.
