7 x 15 ET13 = problems?

Post by mk4 glx 1.6 »

I am looking at a set of wheels which have the above low offset. They are PCD 4x100, so no worries about adaptors and ET13 will be the true offset.

I don't think the width is a problem for the mk4, but obviously with such a low offset, will i encounter any problems, or does it just depend on how much the car is lowered and what width tyres are fitted? Would 195/45's be ok or would i need to go to 185/175's?

Is anyone else running similar width and offset wheels on their mk4. I would like to see some example pictures if possible.

Thanks.[/b]

as you can see there will be clerance issues when you have people in teh back. i cant say anything about driving it around as i havent got all 4 wheels on yet. the wheel spec is
15rxJ7 ET20
175/50/15 meaning my speedo will be about 2% out.

i didnt understand a word of that. but with low offsets like 13/20 ect you may have problems as if you look in my pictures above. the arch is level with the tyre ( the wheel protudes the arch) meaning at full compression the wheel will rub and possibly shred the tyre

when there are people in the back the car lowered itself and the tyre is nearly covered up. trust me .

no mate its the opposite. With a really low offset when people get in the back his arches might cut his tyres.... unless they are wide and have stretched rubbber :D

You mean inside rubbing i think

thanks for the info warrmr.

I think I might still go for the wheels, if they remain cheap. I might just fit 175/50's and keep them for show/occasional use, as then I can just raise the vehicle to a level to suit them and avoid rubbing.

mmmm what to do.......

go for it buy them and see if you can get someone to roll your arches for cheap. one of my contacts mates have a arch roller.

hi there

i can deffinately vouch for the fact that Et 13s will rub, i am currently running Borbet BS rims which are 8" wide with an ET of 15 on the rear, my car is only lowered 40mm at the back and my tires are stretched and yes they scrub! not on the inner arch moulding but on the metal body shell of the car! i have a lovely smoothed off melted rubber line around the very endge of the tread of my rear tyres now lol.

Arch rolling certainly will not suffice in my case, and im deffinately going to have to get the arches pulled, around 10- 15mm i would say. especially seems as i av coilovers coming at soom point in the not too distant future and im hoping to deck her proply.

my tires are 195/45r's

as you can see the look is awesome, id go for the small offset, but yeh get the arches rolled at least, if not pulled a touch.
