MK1 Brake Replacement / Upgrade

Post by WildChild »

I need to change renew the breakpads on my MK1 sometime in the near future and was wondering how easy it is to put some proper disc breaks on?

or if someone could let me know the easiest way to improve breaking..

Well, mk1s have discs on the front and drums on the rear. The drums work well enough and give a good handbrake, so i'd leave them. The discs on the front are tiny, and theres bigger out there which will go on - im going to be using G40 discs, calipers and carriers.

The big big problem though is the lack of servo, for some reason they decided to leave them out. You can put one in, but space is incredibly tight as on RHD cars, the back of the engine interferes. Im going to have to figure this out when the new engine goes in
