MK2 Squareback

Post by westie »

Hi - I've inherited a 1989 1 litre MK2 squareback, in good nick, 1 previous owner with 68k miles on the clock, it looks a bit plain so was just thinking of slamming it to the ground. Can anyone let me know what a realistic drop would be and if they have encountered any probs since lowering, I was just thinking of changing the springs to keep it keep, someone even told me to take an angle grinder to the current springs but I think I'lll give it a miss!! Also wouldnt mind changing the front bumper as its got a knock in it so if anyone has a spare lying around I'll take it off you.

Some people do a max drop of about 70mm, but 40mm is easily achievable with minimal if no rubbing on your wheels, depending on what wheels you have.choose of course :)

Good luck with your project

welcome to the forum buddy!

venom do a 70mm drop for £180 i think. that'd be cool! but could be a serious problem when it comes to wheels! i can imagine those rear arches could be a problem! (as i will find out eventually!)
