9N Front Disc's

Post by dino »

Are the front disc's on the 1.4tdi and 1.9tdi the same size?

Mine will all need replacing in about 8000 miles so im trying to see what options i have before i go to the dealer.

Anyone know any good websites which stock brakes for the 9N?

(have read through all 6 pages on here but can't find anything btw)

Cheers in advance

Hello Dino

The brake set up for 1.4TDIs and 1.9TDIs (apart from GTs) are the same. Both use 256mm diameter discs with a thickness of 22mm. Some smaller engined Golf 4s use the same discs also.

My choices can be found in this thread (in the Power Train section of all places):

I have part numbers and suppliers etc. - if you want anything more, just ask...

That's great - where did you buy them from?

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I got the ATE discs from Euro Car Parts £75 the pair inc VAT and free delivery and I got the pads from a local shop called Motoscope.

You *might* be able to get the pads from GSF. They didn't have them listed when I called, but I didn't have the part number at that time.

Ta da!

That's if you meant the ATE discs anyway. They're only listed under the Golf and they're in the Accessories section - funny, as I've always considered brake discs as more than an accessory. The web catalogue confirms that these are the right part for the Polo:

I've just been on and it appears to be down at the moment, but normally you can search and cross reference on there.

Any Pagid stockist should be able to get you the pads, but they're not always listed - they'll probably have to call their suppliers and order them specially, but mine arrived in less than a week.
