LX inlet manifold?

Post by Mk2Adam »

i was offered an inlet manifold from an LX yesterday, i had a look on the net and it says the LX was a mk1 model?

the guy told me it was from a mk2 1.3 and was the makings of the GT, said he wasn't sure what it would fit on but it would probably be a big improvement, also said they're pretty rare, anyone heard of this and if and what it could be used for?

maybe be interested for myself if it's compatible, or i can pass him onto someone here if someones interested?

Sounds a bit fishy to me. Best thing would be to get the part number off it and find it on ETKA or ETOS.

I doubt a different inlet manifold would make much of a difference on a normally aspirated application without port-matching and decent gas flowing

its a better manifold- i dont think it has the restrictive spikes that come on the later ones- hence lx is 60 bhp [inlet and 4-2-1 exhaust]

AFAIK the late 1.05 inlet is more generous than the 1.3 manifolds. Also the hole in the top of the inlet manifold for the carb is a different shape and size, but that may not be a problem. (it is if you want to put a 1.0 manifold on a 1.3)

It still has the inlet heater - LX models (assuming its the mk2 and not the runout mk1) were fitted with the 54bhp HK engine and a pierburg 2E carburettor. Pretty sure the inlet manifold is the same as any 83-90 1.3 polo engine. But a part number would be useful for me to make sure.
