I recently lowered mine by just 40mm and the shocks are not up to the job of controlling the spring. It's stays flat around corners but doesn't handle bad roads at all well as it bounces of the spring without an upgraded shock. waiting for my shocks and springs to arrive so I can change the lot (ordered complete set because I want to go to -60 as -40 doesn't look low enough)
Also couldn't believe how high the comfort level stayed with the stiffer springs, I usually find the comfort is wrecked when changing springs but not on -40 on a Polo it isn't.
All depends on what you actually want to do with the car, if you are lowering it to make it handle better then definitely need shocks, if it is just to look better then maybe not.
Pics of my mod vw polo 6n- let me know what you think
im from a town in surrey. kingston,, yeah u can tell im a bmxer, my plate cost more than my last car, yeah the polo is just my anti riding places mobile, and going 2 comps type thingolop_chris wrote:yeah ive been ridin now for years, recently ive been riden less regularly tho.

also i wanna go 60mm lower, but from what "kerley" said makes it sound like i wont be able 2 just change the springs,,,

Though admittedly mine did nto ahve nowhere near as funky a paintjob, it did probably have about that much primer on the boot lol. The only rear bad boyed peugeot 205 id ever seen was my own! i was so proud lol. How did the pug die?
Nice car!
Chris.
i gave away my bmx to my mechanic! i loved my GT, biggest cycling mistake ever. Oh well. Anyhoo! Has anyone else found tat its better to just change the springs rather then the full shocks and stuff, as this is what my mates dad (the golf specialist) has found in his Mk2 golf. Im curious if the case is the same in polo's...
Chris,
Chris,
