Umm. Ive got 17s and have been advised against lowering at all many times!

I think if you are gunna lower, you need to get the arches sorted first!
I get slight rubbing not lowered which was sorted by gettin a hammer and wacking the the bit that rubbed lol.

If you do go ahead, let me know how you get on coz ive been planning to lower for months now.

Chris

P.S - Speak to neil he has 17s lowered and i think he said with passengers you get major rubbing... :P

Jordan has 17@s and hes lowered -100mm+
although serious arch work needs to be done :D
-35mm you should be fine without arch work unless you carry alot of passengers

I was -35 when I had 17s and it scrubbed quite bad on the rear over unflat road and rubbed on the inside of the arch

If you have people in the back forget about it

Its depends a lot of your tyres size. If you have 195/40 R17, you can lowered it much than with 205/40 R17.

17's are a nightmare on polo's
i'd strongly recommend steering clear of them, they look way to big for the car and you'll never get the car looking as low as you want it without serious arch work.
Get 16's 195,40,16 tyres and you can slam it -75mm or more 8)

Do you get any rubbing on 16s with 195/40/16 tyres at -75mm. And did you have to do any arch work or not Ben?

Thanks Ben

yo
well im currently running 195,45,16 tyres but they are getting low tread now so they look like 40's
i get a little bit of rub at the rear going over big bumps in the road, where the tyre is catching the inside of the arch.
Apart from that i get alot of scrubbage when i reverse and turn the steering wheel (driveshaft hitting something lol)
its just amazing how much lower you can go with 16's rather than 17's without arch work.

I got 17s and lower 35mm.
Got no scrubbing at all, get scrubbing when i have the car full of people and then scrubbing is bad.

Gna get arches rolled and car lowered more soon though

17's, a great way to make a slow car even slow, make it break even worse... classic choice.
