Please-Is it hard to change a wheel bearing on 89 polo?
has anyone done it before and can it be pushed out in a vice or using a hammer/mallet?
hope this is in the right section!
Paul.

i've never done one before, i tried doing one and only got as far as the driveshaft nut, couldn't get it off
as hypojam said, the rear 1's are easy, but if you actually get to the bearing through all the seized nuts, then you need a puller and a vice to seperate the hub from the bearing, then i've heard you need some sort of press to put it all back together again, but not too knowledgable i'm afraid as didn't get that far

I changed the passenger side bearing a few weeks ago on the front, I was led to believe I would need to go to a workshop with a press but we got away with putting a bit of grease on it and squeezing it with a vice (not a bear vice put cloth or something over it).
The old bearing was so fncked it just fell out anyway.
At the end of the day you should need a press but if you are lucky you'll be alright.
