Winter mode?

So now that the season is officially over (well, after the weekend anyway), how many of you are switching to winter mode?

Within a couple of weeks the R10's are coming off and I'm contemplating the use of winter tyres (M+S) or simple Michelin's I still have lying around.

I'll probably raise the car a bit while I'm at it... Who cares in winter time anyway. Come spring, come drop.

Anyone else?

nope.

can't raise it as it's on springs not coilovers, and the wheels will prolly stay on. depends how much road salt they start putting down. Ah, fcuk it, its only a set of wheels.......

JBS are sourcing me some 14" Steels to stick on and I'm going to see about getting some snow style tyres to put on them.

Gonna try and get some roof bars so I can stick my snowboard on the roof too!

Just re-doing my false floor (with safety and security in mind) so that's my autumn project.

Roll on April (bonus time) so I can do something a bit special to her!

Oh, and Josh - I think I like the roofbars + snowboard thought... Would look cool with a certain style of wheels come spring! (minus the snowboard then obviously)...

Yeah, the don't hold back here with the road salt and grit...

I've postponed the fitment of my BBS (RA) rims until next year. I don't see the point in abusing a newly refurbished set of rims and new tyres (which will never get up to a decent temperature)

Still plenty of life left in the Kormoran (Budget Michelin's made in Poland

) tyres that are on my steel rims... Maybe next year I'll ditch the budget rubber and get some proper mud and snow tyres (they used to work a treat on my previous cars).

Q. I would've thought that lower suspension would've been better in the Winter... Centre of gravity closer to the ground should give you more feel and control if you start to slide about, no?

Good call on the wheels Gobert23. Salt sucks.

I'm raising it to avoid part-timing as a snow plow. Also, if I can avoid the daily scraping for a whole season, I betting my lip will look better. Besides, with the ugly wheels on, the point of being low is a bit lost really.

Spring is coming our way here in the Southern hemisphere so I'm getting a pair of (long-delayed) mudflaps for when the rain really starts.

i've taken my 17's off saves them getting corroded by the salt and put the 16's on, i want to go abit more lower though instead of raising it..

my wheels are off for the winter and the car is 2 inches higher. It's been like that since they started roadworks near my work a month ago..
Next spring I'm dropping again, putting my wheels on and getting leather in my car(I'm going to buy GT-seats today as a matter of fact

, and when summer starts knocking they'll be covered in skin

). Hopefully it will be done before Worthersee

True!.... but it's bloody freezing. My wheels are coming off for sure. I washed them last night after finishing work. I didn't even bother doing the rest of the car as I was too cold

If I had a garage (that was empty) I might not take them off but I have a set of 13" Steelies with Yoko rubber I can use if I need to. I'm not going to fit the coilovers til after the worst of the weather but I need to get the brakes checked over and give the car another coat of Wax

My thoughts exactly, just finished the 'Pre-winter-wax' session...

No proper winter tyres yet, but I'm working on it. Reminds me I might try that KW stuff to protect the coilovers a bit. Not that they'd rust. But still.

what KW stuff? I wouldn't use the spraycan that is always included in the box...

Get a bucket of grease and start smearing it on the screwsystem. Even in summer most belgian guys drive around like this. It protects against rust. When you want t adjust the height again, just wipe off the grease+ dirt in the grease with a cloth and screw away
