if i were to make my own backbox what would be a good size to make the box to get a standardish sounding box?
what i am after is a standard looks good performance and a not too loud sound, been looking around on the
net for ages and cant find a thing.
i know i can go out and buy a backbox but i dont wont to! its more fun to make one plus it gives me another resion to buy a welder :-p
so whats your oppions?

yes it would be a empty baffleless box so it would be a stright though box like performance boxes
i recon the size of the box tunes the sound, but im not sure if a small box would make a farty sound and a big box would make a bassy sound i cant find anything on the net
might just have to buy a welder and see what a standerd backbox sounds like with out its insides

U will have to be very carefull wen doing this, on my first escort cabriolet i made a backbox out of stainless. It was raspy and throaty as hell, it used to set car alarms off wen i drove past. I got pulled over by the filth because they heard me, an officer crouched down and inspected the box with a torch and they gave me a vehicle rectification notice (pink long slip, change car to standard and have mot stamp to proof it, then produce to station) because my backbox wasnt classed as road legal because it didnt have a bs number stating it was ok for road use. Think u would be better off buying one or getting a company like powerpipes to fit a box on ur car that way u stay the right side of the law.
