Airbag light after fitting Momo.

Post by SAM_MK4_19D »

Hi guy's I'm trying to finish my interior off at the moment and it's driving me mad having the airbag light on permanently. I have fitted a momo wheel so obviously the airbag is no longer in place. Its therefore is illuminated all the time. I was given a fuse/resistor with my boss kit but it hasn't solved it when I plug it in to the airbag terminals. The only thing I haven't tried yet is to disconnect the battery to reset the ecu with the resistor in place then try again. Do you think this might help?? And how long does it need to be disconnected for to reset the ECU.

If not I'm going to have to strip the dials down and remove the offending LED. Mine is a post 98 so it has the fuel and temp in the middle at the top. I need to get the needles off and the dial faces off to get to the warning panel where the LED is positioned. How hard is it to get the needles off? Any tricks on how to do it. Have read about using a fork under them so you can pull them off evenly. Any better ideas?

I will aslo benefit from this as the airbag mustve gone off when my baby was in the dreaded write off accident. Its incredibly irritating in the dark....

My Bro suggested putting leccy tape over the glass in that area. I want something with a little more of an oem look!

Guys its simple, take your stereo out and rip the plug out of the back of the light. Dead forever

the battery must be disconnected while you are fitting the steering wheel, and while you fit the resistor. or the light will come on.

as long at the resitor is correctly fitted you can get the light reset with vagcom if anyone has one.

also if the drivers airbag is disconnected the passenger airbag and any side airbags will also be disabled.
