I here you can get a fully rebuilt 16v engine form big boys toys with big bore etc for like 800. One day i might do that, or ill try and chuck a 1.8gti lump in there... now that would be super fun....

im hopin 2 get a 1.4 in mine, if i was 2 replce my engine with summit bigger, wot else do i have 2 replace?

ECU and wiring would likely need changing as well.

If you're planning to put a 16v in, you should do the brakes and suspension too.

I think that for the cost, you may be just as well off buying a real 1.4. It'll probably be cheaper to insure than a car with an engine conversion too 8)

theres way to much work envoled in doin a conversion.... gotta change amost everythin that works wid the engine......

was told the gearbox would also have to be change....

you'd be looking at replacing most of the dash forwards really. and yeah it would cost loads to insure something with an engine plant.

My advice is, forget about making engine mods, and get some coilovers. Make up for lost time in the twisty's.

God, 60bhp, my 1.8T increased by 55bhp when remapped LOL
