Noise from Passenger Airbag

Hi guys, Noticed about a week ago that when i turn on my ignition, there's a strange ticking/knocking noise coming from behind the dashboard where the passeger airbag is located.

Once you start the engine the noise is either drowned out slightly or stops, but then every now and then when i brake to a halt, it makes the noise again!

Any suggestions what this maybe?

Please help!

what model and year is your polo ?, if it as digital air-con it may be a heater flap control motor, these are prone to go faulty especially on 9n 2002 on models.

Its a 2000 x reg Polo GTi.

How can you confirm if it is the motor thing you suggested?

Will Vag-com diagnose it!

Well done mate, you were correct.

Only its not on the new Polo, its a 6N2.

Any idea of price for a new motor?

it's a dealer only part, give them a call, i think there about 30-40 quid-ish.
