Clutch problem advice please

Post by trailstar »

The clutch on my mk4 16v has gone really stiff, but works fine otherwise, I think it is probably the cable and i'm taking it to a garage tomorrow. Am i right in thinking its the cable and how much should it cost cause i dont want to get ripped off, thanks

I had exactly the same problem and finally took it in. I had my cable changed (£100 inc labour) and a week later the clutch went too. I got this changed (£400) and everythings ok now....well sort of...

I've now had the drive shaft pop out (thats what I was told by the garage anyway) and also a leek for under the gearbox which appears to be oil of somesort, does anyone have any ideas? It only occurs when its warm which leads me to believe it could be residue from the driveshaft going...help!!!! :?
