head units

Post by Tom »

for my old car (peugeot 106) i bought the sony active black panel mini disc head unit, i've just fitted it into my polo 6n2 gti and its looks crap, you can hardly see the black panel lights during the day time. So basically in the not to distant future i'm looking to buy a new headunit, just wondering which ones ou guys recommend and if you know of any that match the dash lights? (blue and red)

cheers

Hi Tom,

Nice choice of car :D
The main problem is the angle the H/Unit sits at. Most manufacturers do a few units that match the illumination of the VW Blue/Red - choice is yours. You might also want to check if the unit has contrast adjustment for the dispaly. My Kenwood has this and it's very handy. It used to be set @ 8 when the unit was in my MK2 Golf and now it's @ 3 in the MK4 Polo.

If your still sticking with MD I would go for a Kenwood

You can hardly see the lights when the contrast is full?? I have no idea how it sits in a 6n but i've got it in my 9n and it seems fine can see everything clearly during the day, was a bit poop when the contrast was dim but i put it on full and it was fine for me. :?

if you want headunit to match dash then get a Sony CDX-MP40. MP3 CD player, or something similar with that shape and design.
For 125 quid you cant go wrong ang it maches my dash very well!
