New for new the golf gti is around 4-£5,000 more than the polo gti. The problem is that it's overpriced and people would rather spend there money on something bigger and better. A fully loaded polo gti would cost the best part of £18,000+ which is used golf gti territory, it would also buy you a well specced MK4 R32, I know which I'd rather have.aussiegti wrote:I am interested to know where you guys get your figures?
Looking at VW pricing it seems a basic 3 dr Gti Golf is UKP5000+ more than the base Polo GTi. I asssume that is still a fair whack of money over there. The Polo is also similarly priced to the Fiesta ST. In reality this is the market it is aimed at.
The Clio 197 will not be faster than the Megane 225. If anything it maybe slightly slower than the Clio 182. Will it be as good as the Old 182? Who knows, the 225 sure didn't hit the mark. Remember there is as near to zero upgradeability for the 197. The polo has a plethora of upgrade options.
VW does seem to price its vehicles at a premium.. doesn't seem to hurt sales of the the Golf Gti. The quality of the Polo is a order of magnitude better than the CLio 182.
A basic Fiesta ST is around £13,500 and the Clio 182 about the same but the polo is about £1,500 more with a lower spec.
We all know how 'upgradeable' the 1.8T is but pound for pound compared to it's rivals the polo just doesn't cut it
