car wont start.
ive got a polo 16v. went to start it yesterday and nothing the starter mtor doesn't engage. you cant even here it spining or the solenoid engaging. i hooked it up to my dads car with jump leads still no luck. the battery seems fine everything works in the car and the headlights are still nice and brite. i dont think it's the immobiliser cause we can bump start the car. we have checked all the fuses and none are blown. does anybody no what it is? i cant even find the starter motor on it. so i cant check for loose conections.
If the starter motors NOT spinning its NOT your immobiliser. The immobiliser doesnt stop the starter from running just the engine as its wierd into the ECU not the starter.
My guess would be a failed starter, i had one go on my 1.4 Ibiza (same engine as Polo) they can just randomly go. Think it was £150 all in to have it replaced, it isnt a cheap part unfortunately.
Best way to test if its the starter is to bump start the car down a hill, if you can bump it then you need a new starter.
