budget compatible cable to work with VAG-COM and my car?

Post by liviococcia »

Hello Members, does anyone know which compatible cable to use with VAG-COM software version 409.1 and my car?, the cars a Polo 1.4E auto, 'X' reg (year 2001), chasis WVWZZZ6NZ1Y185825.

I don't particularly want to take anything to bits to find out, and am hoping someone will know what cable

The Ross-Techs website's mentions about the wording on the interface (which must be a lable on there connection cable), but i've looked on the diagnostic socket in the car for the same thing, which is blue in colour, and is situated in the center consol, in the ashtray and after removing the liner, and found nothing.

There are also other versions of VAG-COM, 512.4(current),and 311.2, will only one, or do all of these versions of the software work with my car, using any budget compatible interface cable that i bought.

Please if posssible, any helpful links to the right one would be great

And any help would also be very greatful.

Kind regards
Livio

Cheers for a reply, but on mine you take a liner out of the ashtray and it's there.

By-the-way, i made a purchase for a diagnostic cable on ebay, i found the type i'm ment to use is HEX-USB with VAG-COM 514.1, but the lead i'm getting is..

KKL 409.1 VAG-COM VW/AUDI OBD2/II USB Diagnostic Cable

.....for my car and version 409.1, newer VW's use a system called CAN-BUS, i think it's faster and allows more avenues for changing things in the ECU.
