Help with new car alarm....

Post by The G Man »

Hi All,

Have just purchased this wonderful car alarm off of ebay and am a bit stuck with the wiring. Any experts out there care to help?

Right...

I've got a G reg (1990) squareback 1.1 Polo - one of the last Mk2 that were made.

Anyway....

The wiring of the alarm seems okay until I look at the 'immobiliser' wiring.

I have two yellow wires on the alarm that I must connect between the 'ON' position (position 2) on the ignition switch and the high voltage coil. I have to cut that wire and connect each end to one of the yellow wires.

The coil has four wires on it though (excluding the plug which leads to the distributor) - which wire do I need to cut/use?

I also have to connect a wire to the 'ACC' point on the ignition switch (position 1) - anybody know the colour of the wire that I use for this?

I do have the Haynes VW manual with wiring diagrams but I can't make head nor tail of them.

Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

If you need me to scan the circuit diagram then let me know and I'll post a link.

TIA
