Options are: throttle bodies (c. +50bhp), Nitrous (c. +50bhp), a turbo conversion (c. +75bhp) or an engine transplant (c. +endless bhp).

Realistically, If you want a fair bit more power, your best option is selling up and buying something a) with the existing power you are after or b) with a more tuneable engine.

The best bhp to £ ratio is probably a remap or chip

since your on about power can i pick your
brains. i have a ko3 turbo ,down pipe and cat for the turbo
and a standard intercooler from a ibza cupra.
what else would i need to turbo my polo. and
how much would this cost??

I wouldn't expect to be able to do it for under a grand. Piston and head work means working on the pistons and the head. Just for starters, you'd have to reduce the compression ratio big time.
