hi,
My girlfriend drives a mark V 1.4 TDI and drives alot in Scotland. With winter on the way I am going to try and improve her headlights. Don't what to do the Xenon upgrade definately beyond me!! Any ideas for bulb etc.
Possible thinking about engine chipping aswell but think it might be expensive and not really worth it any thoughts here would be appriciated.
Ragards
Smudge
More Headlights
On Tdi's, chipping will yield pretty good results for relatively low ammounts of cash. There's a lot to gain by simply adjusting the car's ECU. Most gains seem to be going from 75 --> 100 or very near that much hp.

Apparently the Xenon kits aren't that hard to install. Alternatively, you could give uprated bulbs a try. They're not that expensive after all, and it could be just what you're after. I now run Philips Blue Vision bulbs, which give a very white/blue-ish colour. For bad weather driving, I recall Philips doing a yellow-ish bulb designed for better visibility in rain, etc.
Hope that helps!

the phillips blue bulbs are quite good and imho about the best your going to get off an incandesent bulb but then if you fit HID bulbs then your in a totally different league. i have the hid kit from VAG parts (approx £400) and it blows any other light away. i opted for the 8000K bulbs which in retrospect might have been a mistake as the coppers always have a double take but the instalation is very simple and there is a fitting guide in the DIY forum. the kit seems expensive but they can only e described as insanely bright (but give next to no glare)
