Lol, i had similar probs with my bumpstrips, exept i dint knock mine off, i meant to av em off, my drivers side ones were stuck down with the original 3m stuff, but on the rear quater panel you can see where its been resprayed but they dint remove the side strip, its soo obviouse, and then the passenger side, well that was a p*** take, cuz they had been taken off, and stuck back on with epoxy resin (superglue!) only way to brake that down is to use the chemical that is in nail polish remover, so i nicked my mums, and started carefully trying to break down the glue, at first not much was happening then all of a sudden my paint started to dissapear lol! so i now have a nice white patch on my quater panel!

to say i was p!ssed off wud be an understatement after spending about 3 hours on my hands n knees!

yeah, i did mine in bout 2n half to 3 hours and it was a bas***d! you cant tell tyhere is a difference in the paint unless you get really close, and not everywhere is a difference, only in some little patches. guess some are luckier than others with the paint, and the extent of damage done when taking the strips off, cus everyone has a little bit of damage, me, i just took a tiny little bit of paint with the paint gun!! Oops!
