paint??? Help!!!
hey, just wanted to see if anyone could help me with the code for the paint for my car, or the name! as i need to get some to spray my grille and touch up some scratches that have been on the bumpers for ages! (since the lady i bought it off put them there).
my car is in the sig, like metallic red! not sure of name or code, looked in the boot, but all those codes and numbers mean nothing to me!!!!
hope you guys can help!

I should imagine that's it, I can't see it in this topic http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/poloforum/v ... php?t=4712 but yeah, if Halfords don't have it in stock they can get it, you can also order it from VW.

Best match I've found for colour is VW since I've just touched up some bumper scuffs with the advice from NZ POM see my post for paint advice. Comes in a touch up kit or 150ml cans from the VW main dealer.

thanks for all the help guys, i was thinking of getting "canyon red LC3K" from halfords, cus i know they have that one, i might if they dont have the same as mine. you think this would be ok? it's only for touch up and my grille, shouldnt be too notisable will it? halfords wont mix it there for me will they?

Get the right colour for you car!!! LC3M MemoryRed Metallic
If you use a different colour it would definitely be noticeable and look mashed, just go down to VW and get yourself the paint. If you want to order online for a colour matched paint I used paints4u.com they gave me some good advice and the paint was good also.
All touch ups/colour matched paint are never a 100% match so if you get a different colour like Canyon Red when yours is Memory Red it will look far worse. Also remember if your car has metallic paint you will need primer, base coat (colour) and the lacquer which brings out the metallic look.
To be honest I don't rate halfords paint at all. You're only in Surrey so not the back end of beyond, there's bound to be some local VW dealers that can order it in or may have it in stock or you could go to an automotive paint supplier who will be able to compare your colour to some paint chips or swatches to get you the right shade as well as mix from the paint code.

Also looking at your pic (nice motor BTW) the scuffs are on the front bumper which is made of plastic. Make sure you get some plastic primer.Mk4Mexican wrote:U know wat? u r rite! i'm not gone rush anything, and wait till i get the rite thing! i already have white primer and laquer, so i just need the right colour! thanx for your advice, if not i would have just rushed it with any colour n would have F'd my car rite up!
Safe
Here's a list of stuff I used as both my front and back bumpers were scuffed on the offside.
Various grades of wet and dry
Ultrafine finishing filler
Stopper/knifing putter
Plastic primer
High Build filler primer
Basecoat
Lacquer
Farecla G3 and G10 cutting compound
A microfibre cloth
Touch up pen
Using all this it was as though the scuff were never there even the deep one on the front bumper which had to be filled!
Take your time as I did mine a bit quickly and in the heat we're having the paint dried to quikly so I had to work hard to get rid of the imperfections.
As for the touch up pots go down to an art shop and buy some really thin fine brushes and use that to apply the paint, also maybe thin the paint out a bit and use it in layers to build up and conceal the scratch. Then when dry use some G3 cutting compound by hand to flat out.
