Electric Window on drivers side not working

Post by kjohal »

Anyone advise me how to fix my elecy windows on my polo - the driver side has two buttons, one for drivers window and one for the passesnger one, the passenger button (on the drivers side) presses but the window doesnt come down, but the drivers works fine, also if i press the passenger side button (on the passeneger door) for the passenger window it opens and closes fine. anyone know where i should start in diagnosing where the fault lies!!!
thanks in advance!

there is a set of cables hidden in a black casing on the door, (it travels from the car to the door) youll know what i mean when you see it!

pull the balck casing back and check all the cables are ok, they very often frey or break and this is usually the cause of this fault

I had a look at this area and could see two wires where the casing had ripped off but wires looked ok, i sealed them using black insulation tape and now when pressing the button up the passenger window goes up, but doesnt work pressing it down - also if you press the button so it clicks twice the window should auto shut or open, this too is not working. i will take the door panel off and have a look inside if any more wires are freyed. any other things to chcek when the door panel is off????

i would say you have an earth fault somewhere, check behind the door panel and make sure there are no broken wires
