My New Polo

Post by WildChild »

Just brought this Red 1983 128,000 MK2 1litre

Mark 1 Golf GTI Seats
Golf GTI 15" alloys
4 x new 195/60 15"

Sticker has been removed, has some crap tint job on the back but ill get rid of that.. was Resprayed original colour back 2 years ago and had a new clutch and cambelt 9 months ago.

The car has 10 months MOT and 5 months Tax with it, it was 17 miles away from me :D

Was very cheap!

Please see photos:

hey wildchild

nice looking mk2 there, definetly a nice find if the respray is decent.

i personally like the mk2's better but then i've never driven a mk1 so prob best if you just try the 2 and decide which one to keep, but i reckon that mk2 would look sweet with your 13" exip alloys on there with maybe a slight lowerage job :D

all looks pretty tidy though, e.g interior, as you said just get rid of the sticker and tints, a few polishes and it'll be a minter

...oh and forgot to say, keep an eye on your speedo because tha tyre size won't be correct, i have 185/60/13's and it's the right size so i don' know how much it'll be out by but it won't be perfect in other words

hmm just did a tyre calculator and apparently if your running 185/60 13s as standard i could put my 165/65 13s on and i'd be doing 69.05 on the speedo at 70 :) -1.36% :) woo!

and i could seriously slam it :D

Yeh but, as i'm sure you can understand i want to have a good ride, and quite honestly i don't see how an MK2 could live up to the expectations that my MK1 has laid down for it.

And despite the Mk2s looking nice, the're not in the same league as an MK1!!

I'm picking it up today, and frankly the drive is long enough for me to get a feel for the car, all backroads and dual carriage ways. 50 Miles.

I'll know then. - i think one thing i will like is that its not got anything broken or not working on it, like my window on my mk1, and the missing bumper on my mk1 - little things that arnt costly but i aint got round to doing - convenience.

Will let u know later..

oi! and u aint commented on the car! i wanted feedback guys! ^^^

Use it, abuse it, and save your mk1 from the salt over winter.

Thats what i'd do at least

What are you playing at dude??? lol

don't sell your mk1, in few years that'll be worth loads, not very often you find a original 26,000 miles mk1 polo, just garage it and restore it, then use the mk2 as your daily run-around

p.s have fun with your 1st drive lol, i honestly believe there is no car more fun to drive in the same price bracket of a mk2 polo, baring in mind they can be got really cheap nowadays 8)

Congrats mate,

Got a bargin there. Enjoy it, and maybe keeping the Mk 1 for the futire is not such a bad idea.

New car looks good, and in the fastest colour too.

if that was from eBay then that was an amazing result, low milage mk2's seem to attract all the attention and end up going for around £500.

god bless typo's eh?
